Coastguard exists to make sure you have a happy and safe time out on the water, and to sort you and your passengers out if you get into a spot of trouble.

If you’ve got a flat battery, you’ve run out of fuel, or it’s something more serious, get in touch.

Our volunteers can only help out if there is risk to a person or people. If there is no risk to a person (i.e. a boat is drifting without any passengers), either call the Harbourmaster or give us a call on *500 we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

We're the boatie's best mate so we don't fine people for doing the wrong thing or salvage wrecks, so here are some other handy contacts for that sort of thing:

If you want to report a boat off its moorings, vessels speeding or debris in the water, talk to your local Harbourmaster.

Has someone done something silly out on the water? Report an accident or incident to Maritime New Zealand.
